My journey this semester has been very exciting. I finally got to learn how to use the computer with actually knowing what I am doing. I also learned how to blog and post pictures on it. This semester I have learned how to pace myself doing school work vs my job. I actually had time to read some other books besides college books and assignments. All my classes were online and to me it is harder taking online classes as you have to be really focused. Sometimes you have to learn to say "no" to some activities that you would really like to do, but can't because of school. Doing online does make you be a stronger learner.
I enjoyed all my classes and meeting some of my teachers. I am looking forward to next semester and graduating soon.

End of Semester
This semester I am taking the rest of my core classes except for my maths. My degree that I originally started out with was Psychology. But being an older student and not really pursuing a degree to get a better job, I am in General Ed. I have always wanted to go to college and graduate. When I was 21 I had my first child, then 2 years later my second and then third and finally my fourth. Well they are all grown and have families of their own so now it is time for mom. I am proud of myself for maintaining good grades while working full time and really hitting the books to get good grades. It doesn't matter what age you go to college as long as you work hard and it is something that you want to don and not something your parents want you to do. Loved learning about blogging, also.

What Energizes Me
The thing that energizes me the most is getting the most of every day. I get up at 6am and I call that my quiet time. I pay bills, watch the news and have my down time, while drinking my cup of hot tea. In the summer I try to sit out on the deck as it is not too hot that time of day.
The thing that I could do for hours and not notice that time has gone by is: go to the beach with my chair and a good book. I would bring my chair to the water and sit there for hours and read or people watch. I miss my family a lot and when I see children playing in the water and sand and I am mesmerized by the children and the things they do in the sand and water. I enjoy doing this so much that my husband will leave me at the water and go do his own thing for awhile. Love it.....Can't wait for our yearly family vacation at Myrtle Beach in August:)

Reading
College is a lot different in reading skills. I love to read books by Danielle Steel, Jodi Picoult, Jude Deveraux and Kristen Hannah. I feel that reading in school is great as it teaches us about a whole new world.
Reading in college is so much different than leisure reading. Some of the things we have to read for school is really hard to understand. I usually have to read it aloud to understand some of the material presented to us.
There are so many people who cannot read and there really is no reason for people not to know how to read. College will help me to understand and look for the words in a sentence or paragraph that I can understand.

Spoon fed
I personally do not think that our teachers "spoon feed" me. The syllabus that we are given is explicit and the teachers do not give us a break on late assignments. We take our classes and it is up to us to decide to do the work in a timely manner.
I was never a spoon-fed person. I have always had to work hard for what I have and do not regret it. It makes you a stronger person and makes you look back at all your accomplishments.

Second post
As some of you know I am back at school and really enjoying it. Some of my favorite classes are math, and computers. I am really learning a lot about computers and online research. I have learned how to blog, look up information and this week going to try to do a print screen assignment. Math is a very challenging class. We are doing fractions and I think my grand son could help me with this assignment. Don't any one say that they are too old for school as you are never too old to learn,

WELCOME TO MY BLOG
Hello,
Welcome to my blog. My name is Kathy and I am from Elizabethtown, NC. I have lived here for 17 years and moved from NY. My daughter and son live in NY. I also have five grandchildren up there.
My program of study at Bladen Community College is General Education. I will not be transferring any where else as one of my goals in life is to graduate college. Five years from now I hope to be living back in NY or my children would have moved down here to be close to me.
I guess this is it for my first blog. I hope that you all will come and join in on my blog.
Kathy :)
